Welcome to our "Drunks and Disorderlies page, here we will list the almost nightly drunken disorderly conduct that takes place in the downtown area at Bar time. The incidents that Jason Maddox of the Daily Register openly admits they refuse to cover. So since they won't and we now have others in the downtown area who will keep watch every night and update this site. We will cover it since our local paper here in town doesn't se an 'interest' in it. Of course they don't live here in this area of Portage and doin't have to put up or hear what we do so of course they refuse to cover it. If they actually lived in the downtown area and heard lioke we have to, then they'd have a change of heart. So we'll do what they won't do. here's a list of YOUR wonderful residents at bartime from tuesday 7-7-09 to 7-12-09. This will be updated almost daily for now on.
7-7-09 with some very interesting observations.
at 2:15 a,m. Man urinating on the side of the Columbia County Annex Building. Where was the police? Interestingly..he was no more than maybe 100 feet away parked at the Conant street exit of the public parking lot. How the officer who was parked there for a few minutes didn't see a man urinating on the building is a very big mystery. I guess it's ok for people to piss on County Bouildings in Portage since the police were right there and never got out of the car to do anything about it. I bet if I were to go do it I'd probably get arrested, or..now seeing that the police neglected to do anything, maybe not. Maybe someone should ask the Portage Police why, they allowed the man to piss on the County Annex building. I'm sure a few of us would love to hear the justification behind that.
Then there was two couples staggering across the intersection of Cook and Wisconsin Streets. cars had to drive around them as they fell drunkingly in the intersection, got up and could barely walk across the street. This was after the man who was urinating finished and walked down the alley down towards the dewitt Street. Our Lovely squad car? left down Conant and made a right on Wisconsin street and if he was looking in his rear view mirror, would've saw the stumbling couples. But I guess this particular officer decided being drunk and falling down in the middle of the intersection with vehicles having to drive around them, is ok. Nice to see that the Portage Police Dept. is so 'on the ball' with the obvious(note the sarcasm).
3:00 am same night..drunken argument in the public parking lot. Someone from the Histoprics yelled at them to "shut the hell up" and after a threat of cops being called, they took off.
7-08-09 had the following.
We saw at least four different vehicles weaving as they were going down Wisconsin Street. Another made such a bad left turn from Cook Street onto Wisconsin Street that he almost crashed onto Commerce Plaza. These were sited between 1:45 and 2:30 am. with absolutely NO POLICE OF ANY KIND IN THE AREA. No Portage Police, doesn't the County Sheriff come thru once in awhile? Well on this night I can tell you where they, weren't patrolling at.
7-09-09 had loud screaming woman at the bench by US Bank after she came out of the lovely, ever so pleasant Matt's Tap. She must've been kicked out because after screaming for the whole world to hear she staggered around the corner and went into Tall Pauls where she stayed until bartime. This happened at around midnight and she walked out of there at bartime, so get kicked out one place, take your problems to another place where they'll gladly serve you.
7-10-09 had the following. People leaving Tall Pauls all piled into the Cactus Club's bus, as the bus proceeded down wisconsin street past Conant it was swearing all over the road. Again, no police to see that and just how many drinks did the bus driver have himself if he was weaving that badly? I wonder if the owners of the Cactus Club here in Portage know about that, probably not. Several different incidents of men urinating between midnight and 3:30 am in the alley behind the County Annex Building, in the underground parking garage, near Commerce Plaza, in the public parking lot of conant and wisconsin streets. and by a tree and bike rack on Wisconsin Street. no police in the area at all. Man staggering drunk at 2:45 in between the Post Office and the Elk's and any car driving by saw this man urinating in the grass between the two buildings. Like we said it must be ok to piss all over the streets of Portage now. These are YOUR lovely residents, don't you just love how they piss all over town like this?
7-11-09 had these trusty incidents.
Two men falling drunk, getting up only to fall again in the middle of Wisconsin Street after leaving Tall Pauls, Women arguing in the parking lot, shoving and pushing each other. woman puking in the middle of Conant street near Dewitt. (which was very interesting since the only police car in the area was a WISCONSIN DELLS Police car coming up Conant Street from dropping someone off at the jail and turning right onto Wisconsin street..I know HE saw the woman puking). I bet she's the kind of woman you want to take home to meet mom, huh. Loud heavyset woman from Monday Night making a return trip to the area barefoot, wearing just a white bra and jeans (don't need to wear a shirt to go into Matt's huh, if you're a woman, a bra will do). falling by her favorite place, the bike rack on Wisconsin Street, then pounding on the hod of parked cars yelling at who knows what before staggering down..THE MIDDLE OF WISCONSIN STREET as cars drove around her. Police around to se that? Absolutely...not. Another dysfunctional relationship gone bad thanks to drinking at Matt's with a couple having it out on Cook Street and waking residents of the area with their yelling, only after being threatened with a trip to jail did they take their yelling fit up cook street towards the church. Rowdy drunks yelling screaming and staggering up cook street by Service drugs kicking windows along the way and setting off car alarms.
Then there's this classic that really, had ANY POLICE CAR BEEN IN THE AREA they could've made this guy Portage's dumbest criminal.
This guy urinated in the garbage can that's smack dab IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PUBLIC LOT! Any police car coming up Conant street or Wisconsin street would've had no choice but to see that, but...of course...our police were anywhere but this area.
These are your neighbors Portage, your residents showing the love for their town. it's too bad that some people who have to live in this part of town have to deal with this on an almost nightly basis.
