Tonight posted here will be the questions of, why is the St. Vincents Store on Cook st. closed(It's been closed for acouple weeks, no answers or stories about the closing), Huber inmates screwing up on their jobs(some getting caught, some, not), a Quote from someone at the Portage Daily Register about why they won't cover the issues we are. why nobody has cleaned up the trash around the inside of the underground parking garage, a police issue, and of course later tonight will be what's getting to be known as our daily dose of drunken disorderies that make the city of Portage just so proud. All this and probably more as our phanthom staff comes up with things certain newspapers seem want to side step. especially now that we're becoming the alternative in news reporting here in Portage.
News Page 1 was updated alittle bit, We've now added a "Drunk and Disorderlies" page, since the Portage Daily Register doesn't feel the need to report these incidents (Will post a direct quote from 'Jason' at the Register here later today), we will since we have to live here and have no choice but to tolerate it because that seems to be the norm that makes for Portage's reputation of a get drunk and fuck town full of idiotic drunks that seem to get away with alot thanks to barely any police prsence downtoan anymore. We live here and have no choice but to have to hear it so we'll do what our local paper won't so we'll do it for them.
Acouple more people have been added to a list of contributers to this webpage. We will be watching every night at bar time for now on and we will post here what we see because this is your town Portage, and YOUR residents, making fools of themselves and making the town look bad. Jump for joy for them because most likely, YOU...know them.
Welcome to The Portage News. This webpage was created simply because The local Newspaper for the City of Portage, Wisconsin, The Portage Daily Register has failed to 'register' certain stories that happening the downtown area at night.
The Latest example and the reason why we decided to make this page up is the following. last wedensday afternoon (6-01-09) there was a fight in a building where a relative of mine lives in, it's called The Historic. Thsi fight was two men beating on another person in broad daylight inside the building. Two men were arrested and taken to the Columbia County Jail as a result. After several inquiries to the Portage Daily Register about this incident, asking them if they were going to do a story on it, we got no answer. The Portage Daily Register decided a story on our town's 'coupon queen' was more important than two men beating on someone in broad daylight. How that isn't a story you will have to ask the Portage Daily Register to justify not running it when this building has sixty apartments and people are concerned about this.
Most of the problems come from a place called Matt's Tap, there, Billy's Place and Tall Palls, along with the Cottonwood and (when it reopens after remodeling is done) The Kourthouse Bar. These are where all the poblems in the downtown area always arise from. The police are called frequently to the area and arrests are made, ambulances are called and people are taken to Divine Savior Hostpital here in Portage. But does our local newspaper the Portage Daily Register, actually register these stories? Not if they can help it it seems.
Is it our fault that the city of Portage Wisconsin has per capita, the most ignorant, dumb and obnoxious drunk people anywhere to be found? Maybe that's the reputation our local newspaper is trying to hide from but when you live in the downtown area and see tthings as we're going to post here, almost on a nightly basis, one has to wonder why the bar owners insist on letting these people back in after causing trouble. You welcome the problem makers in you obviously wat to welcome the problems they bring with them. Not a great way to run a business having to rely on problem making ignorant drunks to pay the bills.
So now we're going to report the things that happen in the downtown area at bar time, every argument, every drunk that's obnoxious, staggering around the street(as in a woman last night, which we will be writing on, on another page here), every emotionally and/or mentally dysfunctional argument between couples who use alcohol to amplify their problems so they can take it out into the streets and let everybody know about it, will be reported here since our local newspaper would rather do stories on coupon queens, than real stories on the trouble in the downtown area.
As of today we will be monitoring the area downtown and every time the police are called to a bar down here, we'll be posting a report here about it. it is news and worth knowing what really happens in the downtown area late at night, even if the Portage Daily Register refuses to acknowledge it.

You can thank the Portage Daily Register's lack of reporting for this page being made. it's going to be listed on GOOGLE and YAHOO so anyone anywhere in the world can see what we have to live with on an almost nightly basis, and wonder why nobody has the guts to actually do something about it. So spread the word about this webpage, you'll know more about the trouble in Downtown Portage from reading here than you will the Daily Register, they prefer stories on coupon queens, remember?
